Lance Gross
Best known for his award winning portrayal of Calvin Payne on Tyler Perry’s hit TBS sitcom HOUSE OF PAYNE, Lance Gross has emerged as a rising star in the Hollywood and quickly becoming a household name. Leaping off the small screen, Gross recently starred as ‘Marcus’ opposite America Ferrera and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker in the Fox Searchlight comedy OUR FAMILY WEDDING which was released in March 2010.

Gross won two consecutive NAACP Image Awards in 2008 and 2009 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on Tyler Perry’s HOUSE OF PAYNE. Gross returned to the NAACP Image awards in 2010 and 2011 to collect two more awards for Best Ensemble Cast for HOUSE OF PAYNE. The show, which recently wrapped its seventh season, has won numerous NAACP and Vision Awards since its premiere in 2006. Other television credits for Gross include THE BERNIE MAC SHOW on Fox and EVE on UPN.

Lance made his feature film debut alongside Tyler Perry and Angela Bassett in the 2008 Lionsgate/Tyler Perry dramedy MEET THE BROWNS. In addition to acting, Lance has appeared in numerous music videos for R&B stars Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Kirk Franklin, LeToya Luckett, Angela Simmons, Kelis, Mary J. Blige, and Tyra B to name a few. Lance’s national success on-screen has lead to a number of corporate endorsement opportunities. In 2010 Gross was tapped by Toyota to be the face of the Green Initiative, a nationwide outreach to HBCU alumni and students on the benefits of green living. He also currently serves as one of McDonald’s “Men of McCafe” ambassadors; a program that recognizes outstanding men in their community.

Lance is a native of Oakland, California and received his Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Howard University. He trained at The Ivanna Chubbuck Studio and Tasha Smith Acting Studio. He originally wanted to become a professional track and field athlete, but turned it down in order to pursue his dream of acting. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
